Why Work With a Transformational Life Coach?

Within the past decade, life coaching has become much more common and accessible, and much less taboo. Coaching is now considered to be part of a well-balanced mental health diet. American health insurance companies are even considering adding some types of coaching as a billable service.

But to the uninitiated, the concept of life coaching can still be kind of unclear. How is coaching different than therapy? (more on that in a future post) And why might you want to consider working with a coach?

Below I have collected 10 examples of real-life scenarios that I have coached clients through. If one of these speaks to where you're at in life right now, you can contact me or book a free discovery call to learn more!

Scenario #1

You have a clear new goal in mind, but the path to success is murky.

When you have one of those moments of clarity and suddenly know what you want, what you really, really want. While you might theoretically know what some of the next steps are that you'll need to take, you know that there's a lot you don't know. If you're someone who benefits from some structured support to figure it out, then a coach could be a perfect addition to your plan.

Example: Wanting to start a new business

Scenario #2

You're pulling yourself out of a rock bottom, and you're feeling all alone.

When you find yourself in a situation that you never in a million years imagined you'd ever find yourself in (it happens to the best of us!), the people who have been in your life up 'til now are unlikely to be able to yelp you out. In reality, they may be nowhere to be found - especially if your way out involves an entirely different path forward.

Example: Living in Recovery

Scenario #3

You're finding it difficult to adjust to a new reality.

As much as we all like to think that we're in control, Life often likes to come along and remind us that we are, in fact, able to control everything. When you are forced into a new reality, that you wouldn't have chosen for yourself, you may need help envisioning your next step, allowing yourself opportunities to change. This often requires a new perspective and someone who can help you to find the silver lining.

Example: A sudden career change (by choice or not)

Scenario #4

You're lacking a good role model.

If you're trying to get somewhere new, you have to do something new. This is easier said than done, even in the age of endless information. Regardless of your goal, you need to expand your circle to include people who have experience in that new way of being. Now, coaching isn't mentoring, but a good coach can help you to find the role model that's deep inside of you.

Example: You want to change your mindset or emotional processing

Scenario #5

You have a hard time making time for yourself.

As we grow up, and inevitably take on more responsibilities, taking care of ourselves (much less investing in ourselves) is often the last thing on your proverbial to-do list. But when you have a set time scheduled with a professional, when you make a concrete investment up front, there is a significant degree of commitment involved. This can make all the difference in the world to allow you to refocus on yourself.

Example: You want to make big changes in your health and fitness routine

Scenario #6

You're struggling to communicate with others in your life.

When you have something important to say, it can be challenging to refine your communication so that you know others will hear you and are likely to truly understand you. In these cases, it can help to practice saying the big things with an unbiased person, who can help you to organize your thoughts and get the words out.

Example: You want to propose a change in your relationship (a breakup or opening up)

Scenario #7

You need help seeing your blind spots.

If you are really ready to level up, it may be necessary to do a full audit on yourself: a personal 360-degree review. Even if you asked your friends and family, they may not be willing or able to provide you with the feedback that you need. When you know that there are ways that you could be better, and you're ready for some tough love, it's time to get a coach.

Example: You want to progress in your career

Scenario #8

You're having trouble getting started.

It's natural for any big new undertakings to cause some anxiety. But if you are someone with a lot of big ideas, but you can't seem to get started with any of them, you may need to work with a coach. One of the many roles that a coach can play in your life is that of an educated, organized accountability partner.

Example: You want to start a business or passion project

Scenario #9

You're not sure it's even possible.

So you have the big idea, and you think it can work...but you're scared. If you need someone in your life to lovingly build you up while we work together to develop a reasonable plan of action, with manageable steps, you want to work with me as your transformational life coach.

Example: You have a book idea

Scenario #10

You just need some support.

When it comes down to it, you may just need someone to talk to. It is hard to be a human - especially in these crazy times. If you need help working through things, schedule in a session. While we may not be able to solve the world's problems together, I'm certain that we can make progress on at least one of yours.

Example: You're troubled by the state of the world
